What does gold guns on black ops do exactly?

The gold function on any gun is just like any other camo. It does absolutely nothing except change the appearance and you unlock the ability to buy it at 14th prestige for 50,000 cod points. If his gun has a lot better stats/results than your's (if they are exactly the same) then he is using mods just like 80% of the people playing Black Ops now.
