How can i thread the barrel on my ruger 10/22?

I want to thread the barrel on my ruger 10/22 so it can accept a scilencer, a muzzel break (i know that it doesnt do anything but like the look), and other such. Also what is a compensator do cause I saw one at Cabeas for a 10/22. Also, where could i get a silencer for a .22
